Lens Advance to the UEFA Cup after Dismissing Chornomorets in Intertoto
By: Sam | July 28th, 2007Hey, it’s written in the stars, no Ukrainian club is going to off anyone from MY league, thanks so much. Lens vs. Chornomorets (doesn’t that sound like a candy that Harry Potter would eat?) was eerily similar to last year’s edition of the Intertoto Cup, where Marseille and Dniepropetrovsk played to a 0-0 draw in the first leg, only to have the good guys pull it off in the second. That’s right, on the strength of two Kanga Akale goals, RC Lens is into the UEFA Cup after their 3-1 win at Felix-Bollaert. It took two beautiful goals from the brand-new Ivoirian and an oh-so-wrong decision from the referee to send the boys through. Highlights now.
Count on our pal Ian to score us some more info on this delectable round of European football on the UEFA Cup blog soon enough.
