Barthez back in business

By: Sam | December 17th, 2006

barthez-nantes-telefoot.jpgAs previously mentionned, retired goalkeeper Fabien Barthez has evoked an eventual return to Ligue 1. And here he is!

On the French television show Téléfoot this weekend, FC Nantes-Atlantique president Rudi Roussilon and Barthez himself announced the signing of the legendary Bleu for a period of 18 months, accompanied by the mandatory “happy-opportunity-club-hope-season-I’ll do my best-thank you” gibberish speech.

Having not trained for a little while, we probably won’t see Mr. Clean until the new year. But Nantes are happy to have the 1998 world champion on their side.

You only beat me to this because I have a fifty-foot tree on my house and no power (and consequently no [or extremely limited] computer access.) But this is good news. I LOVE Barthez, eccentricities and all. (But he still totally looks like hell. This has not been a good year for our Fabien.) Let’s hope 2007n is better.

Oh, do you have a link to a video of the press conference you’d be willing to share?
