Goal of the Week: Round 18
By: Thomas | December 20th, 2009There were so few goals this week this shouldn’t be to hard, especially since one of them was truly stunning. The last time I did this was waaay back in week 13, and Bastos won our poll there.
Michel Bastos (Lyon), 22nd minute, against Stephane Ruffier.
That was one cracker of a free kick, perfectly placed, perfectly paced. Ruffier got Bastosed.
Chu Young Park (Monaco), 35th minute, against Hugo Lloris.
Yeah, yeah, Lloris made a mistake, but the bicycle kick from Djimi Traore, followed by the header and Park’s volley, all this without touching the ground, combined for a pretty sick play.
Gervinho (Lille), 26th minute, against Didier Ovono.
The dribbling on show for this goal was wonderful, Hazard and Gervinho just weaved through that Le Mans defense. Gervinho seems to have learned how to finish, slotting home coolly with the outside of his left boot.
Pascal Berenguer (Nancy), 39th minute, against Geoffrey Jourden.
second goal, 2:55 in the video
A very difficult chip to pull off, as the keeper was closer to the ball, but Berenguer did it in style to the tumultuous cheers of an empty stadium.
David Bellion (Bordeaux), 12th minute, against Fabien Audard.
If that video doesn’t give you a good enough view, try this video at the 1:20 mark.
This goal is awesome for two reasons. Number one is Gourcuff’s amazing no look Marseille roulette acrobatic pass, the other being Bellion’s cool finish to the bottom right corner through the legs of an onrushing Fabien Audard.
Now it’s time to vote!
