New Jerseys! And they aren’t Ugly as Hell!

By: Sam | July 4th, 2007

It’s a tradition, it’s always impatiently awaited, it’s a great way for clubs to make money. New shirts every year! Here’s a quick look at what French clubs have done design-wise.

Marseille: Basic home, but I just love the away. Great homage to Argentina (if you don’t know, OM fans are in love with Argentina and the Argentine state of mind. If they want to say that the Vélodrome was in a frenzy, they’ll say “Dude, it was fucking Argentina!”). The third one is expected to be a horrificly ass-ugly piece of tripe, some kind of pink-orange with lots of blue stripes. I fear change. Benoît Cheyrou and Samir Nasri model.

Lille: Same sponsor, same colours, same idea. But still cool, I think. Michel Bastos and Johan Cabaye show it off.

Nice: A simple but smart home, a less-striped (aka good) away, and a new sponsor, Takara. David Bellion and Ederson show you how it’s done. Spotted on http://maillot2008.skyrock.com, an excellent jersey-rumour blog.

Lens: Whoa! Change of direction of stripes! Yohan Demont shows off. I think it looks pretty nice. Rugby-like.

That’s all for now. Come at the PSG Offside has his side’s new threads, and like he says, once again pretty bland, all they did was widen the middle stripe.

That Marseille shirt is the best looking adidas jersey I’ve ever seen.

I like our new shirts and if the orange is the same as in our new training jerseys, I’ll love our champions league ones. As for the Argentina reference, this is the first time I’ve ever heard of it.
I like Lens’s new jerseys. Nike did a great job the last few years with them

I’ve always thought Marseille has the best jerseys in L1. Simple and classic.

OL jerseys will be revealed next week, let’s hope they are better than this year’s.

Inara: I’ll bet you a blatant link to the winner’s blog that Lyon’s will be ass-ugly once again. Almost no change.

MadSear: If it’s orange, it’s got to be orange-orange-orange, SW87-style, not this atrocious stuff I’ve been seeing all over the place.

oulala, I don’t love it, but the away jersey looks too much like Porto’s jersey to me. They should make the blue lighter.
