Spanish prodigy Bojan Krkic on loan to Saint-Étienne!
By: Sam | May 29th, 2007
How about that? According to an unofficial Barca website, the club is loaning the offensive midfielder, born of a Serbian father, to les Verts for this upcoming season, after the Blaugrana’s reserves were relegated to the Tercera Divison in Spain, too low for the staff’s liking. The 17-year old, who’s been making headlines since his masterwork at the U-17 European Championship and been compared to this guy named Leo Messi, could be a big hit in Ligue 1 if this materializes. I will definitely keep you posted on any officiality in the upcoming days.

Just for your information- Krkic was born in Spain. His father is Serbian, his mother Spanish (and Catalan too, I believe).

It’s so nice when a player comes from Barca to Ligue 1 and not in the other direction, which is the case 99 percent of the time. I know it’s only a loan deal for an untested kid, but still, it’s a very pretty deal for ASSE.

Good call, Abby. I’ll change that straight away.

Krkic is quite good. Not sure if he is an attacking midfielder or a forward, though during the most recent EURO U17s he played as a solitary forward. Regardless, he’s quite a composed and skilled player, with perhaps the only knock against him that he is not terribly tall. Still, at 17 he may have a growth spurt in him.
His full name is Bojan Krkic Perez.

This has not been confirmed yet, but it amusses me a bit because how many strikers has Les Verts signed on loan or permanently and they have all done very little. Helder Posiga, Marek Heinze, Matt Mousilou, Sakho etc. they have all had little or no impact, lets hope the same does not happen to him. He has alot of talent, a bright future in head of him.
