Tevez to Marseille? Yeah, we wish
By: Sam | March 13th, 2007
The second you get yourself interested in French footie, you realize that Marseille, the medditeranean city of Olympique de Marseille is otherwise known as Marseille Absurd Transfer Rumour City. This time, announced in France Football and L’Équipe, the two football papers of record? Carlos Tevez, the Argentinian who can’t buy a goal at West Ham.
In a mix of strange contract-corporate-agreement nonsense, Tevez is not owned by the club he’s playing for, but (of course!) for the company that owns that club, Media Sports Investment (MSI). And word has it that the CEO of MSI is buddies with Marseille’s soon-to-be owner Jack Kachkar.
With Tevez struggling his arse off with West Ham, who are themselves struggling their arses off, it’s no secret that a summer move might be one hell of a possibility. And if the Hammers get relegated, I’ll bet my copy of A Clockwork Orange that they won’t be the employers of the 23-year old international. And with the Djibril Cissé deal looking not-so-promising for OM, they will be looking for a talented striker to fill the void that Cissé has been filling for the half of the season where he’s not been injured.
When Tevez and fellow countryman Javier Mascherano suprisingly joined West Ham from Corinthians last summer, rumours and talk of scandal and less-than-legal talks started brewing, given the fact that these two fine young men were being courted by the big, big uns in Europe, and they chose the mediocre London club, under the siege of MSI, the powerful media giant.
With all that less of an issue to the general public right now, the things that come to mind thinking of Tevez right now are “How come he’s scored only one goal in seventeen Premier League matches so far?” and “Who’s he gonna play for next?”.
Will Marseille be the one? If MSI head honcho Kia Joorabchian and Jack Kachkar are friends to that degree, that’s one thing to consider. If Marseille gets their act together and makes a run for a European spot, that’s another. To be perfectly honest, I think there’s not a chance in the world.
What do you think?

My last info on Jack Kachkar was that he hasn’t come through with any money yet for OM. I feel sorry for Tevez - doesn’t seem like he has any say in things…

Yeah, to tell you the truth, Jack Kachkar doesn’t seem like a very reliable guy. As much as I think it’s cool that a Canadian is going to be the owner of OM, I wish someone with a good reputation could take over instead. But hey, I still think Tevez should give it a try…:)
