+ This weekend we had the chance to catch up on late matches from Week 3, and the first one was Lyon-Lens at Gerland. Lyon could go top if they took it by three goals. They did. A smart goal by Fabio Santos (I know! Isn’t that weird?), and two spectacular ones from Kimmy Kallström and Karim Benzema (his NINTH.) were all that was needed for the emphatic 3-0 victory, which puts Lyon on top ahead of Nancy on goals scored. + The other, less mediatized one that took place today between Caen and Toulouse turned out to be just as good. Lilian Compan got the opener on 13 minutes, on a mule strike thanks to some ridic defending by TFC. Ben Nivet doubled ten minutes into the second half, before Achille Emana pulled one back for Toulouse in injury time. This puts Caen out of the relegation zone.

+ Remember that guy Jack Kachkar, the zombie-like Canadian businessman that wanted to buy Marseille last season? And everyone knew he was a crook? Well it’s been confirmed. The 80-million euro promise he made turned out to be quite fradulent. A judge has been assigned to the case.

+ Bit of interesting news: Jean-Claude Darcheville, Rangers’ new chouchou, is going to miss the upcoming Lyon-Rangers fixture in the Champions League, due to a thigh problem that’s likely to keep him out of action for a few weeks. For those who don’t know, the former Bordeaux scapegoat criticized Ligue 1 quite heartily a few weeks ago, provoking a hint of ire from a fair few fans.

+ UNFP, l’Union Nationale des Footballeurs Professionels, is offering interwebites to vote for who they think was the Player of the Month in the league. Up for the title are Karim Benzema of Lyon, Youssouf Hadji of Nancy and Jérôme Rothen of PSG. Cast your vote on their website here.
