The Latest Tragedy in French Football
By: Thomas | October 14th, 2009
First it was Savidan’s heart problem (Best Goal.com article I’ve ever seen by the way), than the tragic death of Brice Taton, and now this. Sochaux’s Charlie Davies was involved in a fatal car crash early Tuesday morning. He was in the vehicle with 22 year old Ashley Roberta, who lost her life in the accident, along with another person who escaped without serious injury. Davies suffered broken limbs and facial injuries as well as a ruptured bladder. His injuries do not endanger his life, but there are serious questions as to whether or not he will make the World Cup or even play professional football again. Needless to say, Sochaux will be without their dynamic American striker for at least six months. It’s tragic that this had to happen to a player just bursting onto the scene with a promising career ahead of him. My condolences go out to the family of Ashley Roberta and I hope that Charlie Davies will pull through this.

I hope Charlie comes through fine. He can look at Djibril Cisse for inspiration.
