The Screw-Up Heard Around The World
By: Sam | December 4th, 2007It’s the 76th minute. You’re at home. You’re in the relegation zone. In front of supporters who boycotted the first fifteen minutes of the match because of your shit results. Hey, doing this might help!

Ouch … you know, everybody randomly falls down once or twice, but to do it all alone, right next to a striker, when your team is in that sort of situation? Wow.

I’m telling you, there is something shady about the Parc de Princes. I think it’s over cursed land or something.

Yes, wonderful, glorious cursed land.

I was watching this with PSG fans as usual. Even I could not laugh. This is tragic.

I was reading the Eurosport liveblog, and they were raving about “la boulette de Ceara, il s’est troué, bla bla bla” and I thought “oh well shit happens”. But when I actually SAW it, I couldn’t believe it.

Things like this almost make me embarrassed for for Ligue 1, but then I think about Paul Robinson and how he’s England’s #1 goalkeeper and playing in one the EPL’s topflight clubs, and then I don’t feel quite so bad.

I don’t really think this kind of thing says anything about the league it happened in - if you went through enough film of any league, you could find pretty comparable mistakes.

Yeah, but this sort of thing seems to happen to PSG on a fairly regular basis. Some kind of bad luck is always hitting them in the ass. It’s embarrassing because they’re the only club of the capital. Paris must be the only big European city with their club hanging out in the relegation zone year in and year out.

Yeah, that’s the main argument for many Marseille fans when chiding PSG fans. London’s got about fifty teams that could beat Paris’ best team right now, it seems.

Yeah, it does seem weird that Paris doesn’t have a top notch team. I don’t follow PSG that closely - what are the chances PLG is on the way out?

I personally think his job is pretty safe. Alain Cayzac (the owner) is as stubborn as a mule, and as near-sighted as he is I think he knows Le Guen isn’t the problem. The players are just sucking. Landreau is not nearly as sharp as in previous seasons, and the rest of the squad with the excpetion of Pauleta, Rothen, Armand and a few others are a bunch of inexperienced youngsters who shouldn’t really be starting for a major European club on a regular basis. Come the transfer window I expect them to make some big changes, maybe bring in a veteran defender.

PSG need to find new owners ASAP. Their current ones are so stingy that they make Liverpool’s owners ultra generous. The reason Le Guen has to rely on so many young players is because he isn’t getting the money to bring in anyone good. He wanted to get Wiltord and Reveillere but wasn’t given the funds.

Also, something is really wrong with the formatting of the main France page.

Listen I’m tired of hearing the money excuse. Paris is one og the biggest budgets in Europe with 120 mil third in france after Lyon and marseille. Marseille has a bigger budget than Porto. The Celtic and Rangers’ sbudget in inferior to that of Rennes.
The ligue 1 has many problems. One is recruiting, second is lack of stadiums but money is REALLY not the problem.Posted from
