First off, I’m awfully sorry for my absence, it was due to an Internet problem, lots of school bullshit and a lot of laziness and business. But I’m back, buoyed after France’s two super wins in the EURO qualifiers. Here’s what’s making waves today.
+ This upcoming weekend, Jean-Pierre Papin is making a much anticipated return to Marseille, as manager of Racing Club de Lens. Although he harbours a great love for the club he spent six years at, he’s focused on Lens’ comeback after a shit start. “Now, all that counts is Lens and this game is worth three points and nothing more. It’s going to pull at my heart, I’ve got plenty of memories, but I’ve got to let that go to prepare for the match.
+ In more managerial news, we’re now talking about a L2 boss, Rolland Courbis, who’s coaching Montpellier. If you’re a fan, you’ll know his name from the Marseille scandal (not that one, not that one, not that one, yeah, that one) in which him and some associates were found guilty of fraud and a handful of related charges. The verdict: Two years in the slammer! I’ll have more on this when the story develops in the next week or two.
+ Ludovic Obraniak, the guy who came out of nowhere to become one of the most clever and efficient midfielders in the league with Lille, has talked to the media about obtaining Polish citizenship. He insists it’s only a family identity thing, but adds that if football comes calling, he “just might” answer. He’d be a fab addition to the Polska side, for sure.
+ Allez les Bleus! Come on Scotland win against Italy, come on win in Ukraine, Italy go suck a lemon.
