The Sky is Blue, The Pope is Catholic, Real Madrid is in Love with Samir Nasri
By: Sam | August 2nd, 2007
Bernd Schuster and Pedrag Mijatovic, deep in discussion, strut into the small boutique on the corner of UEFA Boulevard. The shopkeeper, visibly irritated by the appearance of the two gentlemen, exclaims, “Sod off, you two! Milan’s not interested! You’re wasting my time!”. Mijatovic, chuckling to himself, takes a step towards the reluctant owner.
“We know, Orville, we know. We’re not here for Kaka. We would, however, be forever grateful if you could help us contact another club. We are… genuinely interested in a young man by the name of Samir Nasri. I beleive you’re familiar with the name.”
Shooting a furtive glance over both his shoulders, Orville beckons the men closer towards him.
“Nasri? Why not the bloody Crown jewels? Have you no idea how maternal Marseille are about him? You’ll be lucky if they flip you off with a cackle if you approach them! They’d rather give up their stadium than Nasri! Don’t even think about it!”
“Not to worry, my dear man, if you’re not up to helping us, we’ll handle it ourselves. Fifteen million euros ought to soften their ears. We—”
Impatiently, with colour rising to his face, Orville throws his arms in the air.
“Are you fucking joking? They’ll take that as an insult!”
His arguments appear to fall on deaf ears.
The pair walked out the door and onto the bustling alley. They were seen upon their return to Madrid, looking flustered and walking awkwardly. No questions were asked.
THE END.
That was my story. It’s a historical fiction. Real did offer 15 mil for Nasri, according to the dripping-with-rumour Spanish newsie As. Officially, nothing is clear, but at least two things are.
a) Samir Nasri is not leaving Marseille this year. The boy is marseillais. He’s born there, was raised there, has always played there, loves the city, the club, the supporters. He’s staying put, Christ.
b) Samir Nasri is not leaving Marseille for 15 million euros. In Soviet Russia, what you have just read laughs at you! Of all the Next Zidanes Inc., Nasri is the most widely-accepted heir. I don’t care if he’s too young to pay more for, he’s already worth more than that.

If Ribry is worth 25m, Nasri is worth at least 30m.
And the Pope is fuckin Catholic?

If they paid 26 million for Diarra, they should pay double for someone who is now certain to be the future of french football. If you can pay 21 million for a player that hasn’t played last year (I’m looking at ManU and Nani), you can play much more for the future captain of the Bleus.

Yeah NAsri will be worth around 40 mill because he has a tremendous upside, and even though Ribery was not worth 25 mill, Marseille will point that out when they do negotiate next summer before Euro 2008. This move will happen, just not this year. Nasri is a smart boy, playing in Marseille gives him room to develop, another year and some CL action means he will be in a good position to step into Spain with his head on his shoulders. Playing in the Velodrome is like playing in the Bernabeau, he will adjust well next year and we all know he will be the next great thing.

The price depends on Nasri. If he has his heart set on Real Madrid, that will bring his price down. If he is a clever bastard like Ribery (which Nasri isn’t), he’ll be interested in all clubs to drive his price up.
It also depends on how he performs this year. He had a great year last year, but now he just has to reinforce it with solid performances and prove he’s not teen star turned adult flop.

A huge difference between Ribery and Nasri, is that Samir is a clever and well educated guy. I`m sure his career is going to be very brilliant.

Both of you have a point, but people underestimate how his dad is always telling him to make the smart choice and he even said that money could wait. Zidane waited to be 24 to go to Turin. This kid is well advised, Zidane’s ex-yagent replaced Pape Diouf (I know) as his agent and manager. He apparently someone who Zidane likes to talk to. Let’s hope he has enouygh influence on him to ask him to stay at least two more years.

In summation, Nasri will stay as long as Marseille keep up their form. It’s not even an issue of his skill rising or falling anymore, it’s just his decision.
